I’ve got some cool things brewing here at Plot and Theme, so I wanted to make sure I did my due diligence and let my readers know what is up and what they can expect in the near future (both of them). I’ll detail the posts that I expect to publish, the flicks I hope to see, and a few other random ideas that are kicking around in my head. All-in-all, June looks like it is going to be quite exciting.

As expected, Plot and Theme ended up just short of 50K views, at around 47700. That’s okay, and there’s a good chance that by the time I officially hit one full year of posts (on April 27th). I also wrote much less in March than I wanted to, but a lot of my writing effort was for cover letters and other such non-fun things. Regardless, I am looking forward to growing readership and interaction more, and one of the ways I am going to do that is include a closing to each of my posts where I directly ask questions and make comments, so keep your eyes for this sight stylistic change in my posts.

I am going to keep the January 2016 State of the Blog a little shorter than normal, because I am very close to finishing up my version of “the best 10 films I saw of 2015” type post, and it will include a lot of sum-ups and ideas that would otherwise be repeated here. So, I’ll use this update to talk about things that I am looking forward to in January (there’s not a lot), and how I will use that opportunity to slightly change the focus of Plot and Theme, for at least the foreseeable dregs of January / February.

The inexorable passing of time and domestication of the dog continues unabated, and November is in the books for Plot and Theme. I published slightly less than I wanted to while attempting to stick to something of a schedule, but I did make progress along those lines. Plus, despite writing fewer posts, November was more successful in terms of page views, visitors, likes, and comments than October, so I am confident that I am moving in a good direction here. There’s plenty to talk about and look forward to, so let’s get going.

As happens, the inexorable passing of time has continued unabated, so it is time for another sobering and disappointed recounting of the previous month at my movie blog. There were still a few cool things that I got up off the ground last month, and also plenty to look forward to in November – including a couple of great outside projects that both look incredibly fun and should increase traffic towards my little online moviespace. So, let’s get to it!

The August 2015 state of the blog post has quite a bunch to say. I’ve got a brand-new look, a simpler address, and plenty of blog news to discuss. I saw some great movies this month, and have a great deal upcoming that I want to tell you about, so let’s get to it.

June is in the books and I was about as productive here on Plot and Theme as I was in May. I published 29 posts (the exact same as in May), most of which were movie news items or reactions. I got a few reviews in, most notably my review for Inside Out, which was my most-read post from the month. However, I failed to deliver on some of the more in-depth and involved pieces that I promised. They are still in the works, I just got a little bogged-down by the daily reporting of news and trailer reactions. So, for this State of the Blog entry, I’d like to discuss a slight change in direction, as well as reach out to my readers for a little assistance in a new endeavor. Of course, I will also provide some highlights of the last month and little preview of what’s to come in the near future.

With May over, my first full month of blogging on Plot and Theme has concluded, and I am having a great time so far talking movies and trailers and news. This got me thinking that it might be fun to spend the first day of each month looking back on what was successful from the previous month and what movies I most enjoyed watching. Further, I will also look forward to my most-anticipated films for this month and tease a couple of posts I have in the oven, so to speak.

I have enjoyed movies for the majority of my life. I think my first memories of movies were seeing Oliver and Company in the theater at the age of three, and watching Star Wars at a similar age and mishearing Darth Vader’s pleas to Luke as, “You don’t know the power of the Duck Side”. Fortunately, my understanding and enjoyment of movies has matured somewhat since then, and in this blog I will make a concerted effort to review and discuss movies in a serious, artistic, and hopefully informing and fun way. In an ideal world, I will not disappear into my own ass.
